Smart Inks as a Standard Testing Tool for Self Cleaning Surfaces
The FP7 project is successfully coordinated by Prof. Krýsa team from the UCT Prague, CZ
The project INTEC, "Smart Inks as a Standard Testing Tool for Self Cleaning Surfaces," was implemented as a Coordination and support action under the Seventh Framework Programme (FP7) for Research and Technological Development within the Specific Programme- "Cooperation", theme: Nanosciences, Nanotechnologies, Materials and New Production Technologies - NMP, (FP7-NMP-2012-CSA-6). The European Union granted a financial contribution of EUR 475 360 to support this project, which started on 1 January 2013 with a duration of 18 months.
The activities of the project were carried out by a consortium of 6 partner teams from different EU member states (Czech Republic, 2x United Kingdom, 2x Ireland and Denmark), from both the academic and industrial sectors. The University of Chemistry and Technology, Prague (CZ), represented by Prof Krýsa from Department of Inorganic Technology, was responsible for the overall coordination of the project and acted as an intermediary between the project partners and European Commission.
The main objective of the project was to develop a novel methodology for evaluation and comparison of photocatalytically active, also known as self-cleaning, surfaces. A new method was described and base on it two European standards were proposed. These new standards were officially accepted by the European Committee for Standardization as a CEN preliminary working items documents (PWI).
Thanks to the outstanding cooperation among the INTEC partners all planned deliverables and targets were set out in time, successfully accomplished and excellent results were achieved.
Prof Krýsa highly appreciated mutual cooperation between his research team and the members of the KAMPUŠ team (Office for administrative and management support of university participation in FP7 projects) from the university department of R&D. Particularly Dr. Karolina Friessová and Dr. Hana Bartková ensured smooth coordination of all partners and successful management of work packages and project activities, they prepared and submitted activity, management and financial reports.
In autumn 2014 the project reports and achievements were evaluated, no comments were raised and Commission released the final payment according the conditions set out in a Grant agreement before the end of the year.
